Ideal pruning is achieved when the cuts are neat, the over all structure is improved and the tree looks healthy.

For pruning or removing trees, Greenleafs utilizes the skills of a climber, bucket truck or crane services. We offer tree evaluations or whole yard consultations. A whole yard consultation is when owner Rich Gambale walks around your property sharing with you what is the best for your trees and property, from an arborists view not from someone who just wants to cut your trees. We can itemize the cost per tree and branch so you can use your budget effectively for the immediate and long term. Special care is given to protect other trees and structures in the work zone.

Rich has been climbing and felling trees for 15 years and is a fully insured Certified Massachusetts Arborist. Certified arborists are highly trained and skilled professionals. They are able to identify tree insects, diseases, and hazardous trees.

The following questions pertain to a tree that needs an arborist’s attention:

  • My trees have ice damage from the December 08 ice storm now what?
  • Which branches or trees should be removed now?
  • Which ones may crash onto to my house in the future?

Hazardous Tree Questions:

  • Are there large dead branches in the tree?
  • Are there detached branches hanging in the tree?
  • Have the tree’s roots been buried by construction?
  • Has new construction ripped up large tree roots?
  • Does the tree have cavities or rotten wood along the trunk?
  • Are mushrooms present at the base of the tree?
  • Has the tree been topped?
  • Are there cracks in the trunk or where branches are attached?
  • Has the trunk developed a strong lean?
  • In the fall have the leaves fallen off too early?

When a tree has one or more of the above symptoms it may be deemed hazardous or dieing. These trees are more likely to fail in high winds, thunderstorms, hurricanes, heavy ice or snow load or for no apparent reason. Sometimes corrective measures like pruning or fertilizing can help to save the tree but it’s generally safer to take down such trees before they cause property damage

Greenleafs provides tree pruning. Pruning your trees on a regular basis keeps them healthy and beautiful. There are different pruning methods for the various species of trees. Do you need more light to fall on your lawn so that your grass can grow? If so, your tree canopy may need to be lifted, that is when the lower branches are pruned off or trees removed.

Are large tree limbs growing over your house, wires, or driveway? We can prune the trees back or remove them to benefit the rest of your property. Do your trees need general clean-up? We can prune out dead, hazardous and crossing tree limbs to keep them growing strong and healthy. Greenleafs owner Rich, will be happy to walk your property and discuss short and long term tree pruning options.

Pruning work that is done incorrectly can be unsightly and have a negative impact on the trees health due to decay, infestation, disease and consequently the trees health will decline. Storms are very common in Northeastern Massachusetts. Whether its a nor'easter, straight line winds from a thunderstorm, an ice-storm, heavy wet snow or a hurricane, Greenleafs can help. Trees that are decayed, are dying, or already dead are more prone to fall during extreme weather conditions such as high winds. This is why we recommend customers who have potential hazardous trees to take preventative action to have them removed before a storm occurs.

We need to use a crane when a customer doesn't want lawn damage or the tree is in the back yard and not reachable by bucket truck. We use cranes that reach 180' tall and can reach out to trees that are 100' feet from where the crane sets up.

Our hands-on knowledge and experience allows us to prune your trees safely while keeping them healthy. Our education through the years enables us to offer you the ability to identify the best course of action for overgrown, diseased, or hazardous trees. Owner Rich Gambale, is a Massachusetts certified arborist www.massarbor.org and graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Plant Science. His philosophy is to inform clients on the healthiest course of action for their trees. He has advised customers against removing healthy trees and informed others that a tree was hazardous and needed to be removed as soon as possible.
