He started with just a climber

Greenleaf's Tree Service inc. is a tree removal and tree pruning company founded in 2000 by owner Rich Gambale.

Rich is a...
  • Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional
  • Massachusetts Certified Arborist #2165
  • BS from Cornell University

Rich started developing his parents' half acre Tyngsboro gardens 25 years ago. In 1990 to 1992 he studied arboriculture at Essex Agriculture and passed the Massachusetts Certified Arborist exam. During college he worked at several nurseries and eventually became head grower at a local business. After graduating from Essex Agricultural College in 1992 the enjoyment of learning about trees inspired him to further his education at Cornell University where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Plant Science. Cornell prepared him for multi tasking, taught him to focus on the most important goal at the moment and how to work under pressure while still smiling.

In 1998, while hiking the 2,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, Rich was inspired to bring his knowledge, creativity, and passion for the outdoors into his own garden design and tree company. In July of 2000 Greenleaf’s Garden Design and Tree Service was launched .

As the years passed the focus moved from landscaping to tree service and in 2009 Rich incorporated and created Greenleaf's Tree Service Inc.

In the tree business he started as a climber (himself), one helper and a rented a small chipper. Now Rich owns all of his top notch equipment: a bucket truck, two chip trucks and a large chipper. Even with this slow economy, Greenleaf's grows by helping each client one at a time. Greenleaf's now employs several local, professional and dedicated employees.

Greenleaf's has been the recipient of the Super Service Award from Angie's List for the last 3 years. This is for achieving and maintaining a Superior Service Rating on Angie's List through 2011 as determined by Angie's List members in the category of Tree Service.

When not running Greenleaf's, Rich still manages to accomplish long distance hikes. He has hiked 1,200 miles of the Pacific Trail in 2007, the entire 700 miles of the Arizona trail in 2009 and completed 700 rough miles of Grand Enchantment trail in Arizona and New Mexico 2011.
